Many in the West today are grappling as to how Islam has been able to get a foothold in our society. We know of their present-day means to get government officials to capitulate to their whims, such as lobbying, the media, presenting themselves as victims before church officials, etc. But how were Islamists able to acquire that type of political clout? Apparently, there has been a willful lack of circumspection or foresightedness of this to come. Back in the 1970s, the late-Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre once said: “As long a Muslims are an insignificant minority in a Christian country, they can live on friendly terms, because they accept the laws and customs of the country that receives them. But as soon as they become numerous and organize, they become aggressive and try to impose their laws, which are hostile to European civilization.”
To those who think that the Islamic conquests is something in some far off land, well, think again. The Islamization of whatever remnant is left of our the Judaic-Christian society is well under way. This past March the United Kingdom Home Office rejected the asylum application of a Christian convert from Iran—under sharia law, any Muslim who leaves Islam and converts to another religion can face the death penalty—who said he had converted to Christianity from Islam because of its peaceful nature, whereas Islam, on the contrary is a religion of “violence, rage, and revenge.” British officials communicated to him that his reason for conversion is “inconsistent with your claim that you converted to Christianity after discovering it is a ‘peaceful’ religion, as opposed to Islam which contains violence, rage and revenge.”
The rejection letter to the applicant, which was nothing other than an appeasement to the Iranian regime, implicitly declared that Christianity is not peaceful — certainly not relative to Islam. This coincided with the arrest of a Nigerian Christian preacher, Oluwole Ilesanmi, who found out the hard way that preaching Christianity in public is “illegal” in London. The city mayor Sadiq Khan, who happens to be a Muslim, has defended the arrest of Ilesanmi, saying that “there are limitations” on the freedom of speech — I just wonder why he has not taken the same line with Muslims praying in public. While the UK is, at least nominally, a Christian country, with the Queen also serving as the Supreme Governor of the established Church of England, its “open borders” has been closed to Christians, unlike to Muslims.
Keeping in mind that Western society, notwithstanding having the separation between church and state — a principle that must continue to be maintained — was founded on Judaic-Christian roots, yet it has publicly been favoring Islam. According Lefebvre’s then-insight, which can also be applied to the present-Vatican position, the eradication of our Christian heritage is part of the problem: “If Western nations, whose charge it was to raise their populations, had not betrayed their mission, and if the Church Herself had not disowned Herself, instead of witnessing the worrisome progress of Islam,” we would not be dealing with the Islamization of our society. In 2008 the Right Rev. Dr. Michael Nazir-Ali, a Pakistani-born Bishop of Rochester of the Church of England warned that such failure of church (and political) leaders to prevent Christian values from being substantially eroded in society had already paved the way for Muslims to scheme and fill the moral void. This in effect rendered them favorable legislations and judicial rulings.
In the United States, for example, the American Civil Liberties Union has thus far made it clear that the Christian religion cannot be present in any way in the public school system. This stems from a 1963 U.S. Supreme Court sentence (School District of Abington Township v. Schempp) that ruled unconstitutional for public schools to mandate religious activities — the activity at issue was reading the Bible. “On the other hand,” as Tom Wallace said in How Islam Is Being Introduced In Our Public Schools, “it seems that any other religion is acceptable. Other religions, such as atheism, Buddhism, and Islam are being taught in our public schools. For the most part they do it under the guise of teaching ‘world religion.’ When they teach about Christianity they teach on the persecution of Christians by Christians without any historical context. They teach that the Crusades were a great sin of Christianity. In fact, the Crusades were, for the most part, Christians taking back land that had been taken by the sword of Islam.”
Islamists, in their expansionist agenda, have exploited this societal disorder as leverage so as to establish a civility governed under the sharia, simultaneously inciting the average Muslim into following their lead. With the help of nations, primarily from Saudi Arabia, the Wahabbi tenets — classified as the most fundamental, the most militant, the most radical, the most extreme, and the most fanatical version of Islam — are subtly being proliferated in our Western world. British journalist Melanie Phillips said a few years ago that the Saudis, “the world’s principal agent of Islamic conquest, … in Britain and America, … have been unhindered to fund extremist mosques and university departments of Islamic studies peddling a sanitised account of Islam.” It does not take a rocket scientist to see how deeply this has divided our communities and our body politic. This is not the case with these new Islamic protagonists who are often characterized by moral conservatism, literalism, and the attempt to implement Islamic values in all spheres of life.
It would perhaps be pretentious to fathom that the Islamization of the West, albeit not necessarily via violent measures, cannot occur, especially in light our demographic collapse. This is what former Libyan dictator Col. Muammar Gaddafi hinted at in 2006: “We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that Allah will grant Islam victory in Europe—without swords, without guns, without conquest—will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.” Unlike Muslims, it seems as if we Westerners are aborting and contraception ourselves out of existence—the fact that many Muslims practice polygamy has also increased their progeny—leaving them more room to be filled. The game is already afoot and it is not one we can win unless something drastically changes, and that is that we open up our eyes and restructure and embed in society the ethics taught to us by our Savior.
